The battle sequences don’t seem too evolved from the Omega Ruby era, but from what I can tell, this is a pretty great-looking 3DS game, and it’s hard not to imagine it will be a mega-hit come fall.
The game will be released November 18th, 2016. This would have been odd news if Nintendo’s NX was coming out during that time period, but since we know it’s been pushed to at least March 2017, this makes sense. One of the most prominent rumors about the NX is that it will combine a mobile handheld with a console. It isn’t confirmed that would mean the end of the 3DS, but it does seem somewhat likely, if that’s a core functionality of the system. But Pokémon Sun and Moon should have plenty of time to shine in the months before the release of the NX. I have my own doubts that the system will even make it out by March, so Sun and Moon may have a lot of time to stretch its legs indeed.
